New Hampshire and the White Mountains are a wonderful summer family vacation spot, and Attitash Mountain is a great place to start.

Attitash Mountain offers many outdoor, recreational summer attractions. Attitash offers excitement combined with a low-key, laid back atmosphere that is a great retreat for busy, stressed-out New England families.

Attractions at Attitash Mountain Will Please the Whole Family

Attitash's main attractions are its mile-long alpine slide, mountain biking, water slides, play-pool for children five and under, scenic chairlift, climbing wall and bungee trampoline.

Find Lodging Near Attitash Mountain

Because the attractions at Attitash can be fun to visit repeatedly, the best way to do Attitash in summer is to find lodging within five minutes of the mountain and plan to stay for several days or a week before moving onto other locales. The Attitash Mountain Village is convenient but expensive. A less expensive condo within 5 minutes or shorter drive time can be found without having to stay at Attitash Mountain Village. Top Notch Resorts, whose rental office is in Glen, is the place to start.

Purchase the Attitash Summer Season Pass

Families who stay nearby should purchase the Attitash summer season pass, available at Attitash Mountain The passes cost $99 each for the summer 2008 season, it is unclear whether the prices will go up. It may seem like a lot of money to pay up front, but if the vacation centers around Attitash, and if the kids love water slides, families will get their money's worth purchasing this pass, rather than paying for each individual attraction.

Another option is to pay for general admission on the first day and if the family enjoys the attractions and wants to experience them more, the price of admission can be put toward the purchase of a season pass. Check with the staff before doing this to verify that they will honor this.

Reasons to Find Lodging Within Five Minutes of Attitash Mountain

There are several benefits to lodging right near Attitash Mountain. Vacationers can come and go as they please and are not stuck trying to get their money's worth in one day. They can work their plans around the weather and can check the length of the line for the alpine slide, opting to return on another day. They can stop in on really hot days just to cool off on the water slides after a day of hiking or other activities. Families can do the slide in the morning and return to their condo for wine, cheese and lunch on the deck overlooking the mountains. This way they can avoid spending money on Attitash's cafeteria style food.

Breakfast in Jackson Village

A week at Attitash is a great way to start or end a summer family vacation. While there, be sure to go sit and enjoy an excellent home made breakfast at the charming J-Town Deli - Country Store in delightful Jackson Village. (Order the home made sausage.)
