How to Summer at Attitash MountainFamily Summer Vacation Attractions at Attitash Mounain New Hampshire
Surrounded by New England's White Mountains, Attitash Mountain offers a fun, relaxed, New Hampshire summer vacation with attractions for families & children of all ages.
The state of New Hampshire is full of fun, outdoor recreational and vacation opportunities for the whole family. Attitash Mountain, in Bartlett, New Hampshire is one of them. Attitash Mountain Summer Vacation AttractionsAttitash Mountain's main attraction is a mile long Alpine slide. It also has mountain biking trails for experienced riders, two water slides, a play-pool for children 5 and under, climbing walls, scenic chair lift ride, bungee trampolines and a cafeteria. The Alpine Slide at AttitashThe slide itself is two concrete tracks that twist and turn for a mile down the mountain side by side. Vacationers ride down the track in single sleds. Each sled has a lever that allows the rider to control the speed.Young children can sit in a sled with a parent. Children as young as seven can ride their own sled down. Parents who are concerned about their child going too fast can ride their sled in front of their child's sled to control the child's speed that way. The Alpine slide usually has a line, especially on a nice day. Expect to wait an hour (or more,) but the time goes fast and the line keeps moving. Getting there before the slide opens can be a good strategy but if there has been rain or dew the night before, the slide might have a delayed opening because the entire length has to be wiped dry. After waiting on line vacationers will take a fun ride in the chairlift to the top. Three people can ride in each chair, or sometimes they will let a family with two adults and two small children all go in the same chair. The ride is about 10 minutes long - short enough to endure by those who aren't fond of chairlifts. If you like speed or sledding, this ride is worth the wait. You can go fast or slow, though warnings state that if you go too fast your sled can fly off the slide. It takes less than 10 minutes to get down to the bottom. It requires one ride to get the feel of the sled and feel comfortable operating it. When riders reach the bottom, surely they will want to ride it again. So the line will have to be endured again, or, if a season pass has been purchased, families can come back again on another day. Even once is fun in itself. Water Slides at AttitashIf the kids love water they will be amused for long periods by the two water slides. Adventurous kids over age 7 who have older siblings will probably not even need their parents to go with them each time they go down. One slide gives the option of riding in a single, double or triple tube. The other slide has three different tracks to choose from, and riders slide down on a mat. The kids can keep going over and over and the lines are usually not long at all. If the kids love this sort of thing it can keep them occupied for an hour or even several hours, while parents set up beach chairs or towels (bring your own) on the grass (right at the bottom of the slides) and enjoy some uninterrupted conversation. There is a smaller play pool nearby for little children which requires parent supervision. Other Attitash Attractions: Bungee Trampoline, Mountain Biking, Scenic ChairliftThere is a small climbing wall that the kids will enjoy. Lines usually aren't too long. The longest lines are for bungee trampolines, for which the length of the wait may be prohibitive - children will be disappointed. There is a chair lift that brings vacationers to the top of Attitash mountain to experience scenic views. Experienced mountain bikers can ride the main chair lift with their bikes and bike down the mountain. An Attitash Mountain summer vacation is perfect for families looking for outdoor fun and relaxation with a dash of excitement in the White Mountains.
