A White Mountains Pass cuts prices of popular attractions including the Cog Railway, the Flume, Lost River, Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway and Polar Caves and many others
Summer is here and the cool breezes of the White Mountains draws visitors to its long list of attractions and activities. Nature provides for some of them and man provides the rest but they all guarantee a vacation filled with excitement.
The problem is that even on a short vacation admission to a number of major attractions can add up but, Yankees are famous for their thrift. The White Mountains Association, which represents 16 of the most popular and interesting attractions in the state, has set up a deal no one can resist.
Their pass admits visitors into most of the mountain attractions for about half price. The admission to all of the participating attractions is about $600 for two adults, but the pass lets the same two adults into those same attractions for $295. One of the best parts of the deal is that the passes are transferable so they can be shared by several families.
The natural attractions were made by nature and include The Flume Gorge, Lost River Gorge, Polar Caves. Explore these and you’ll find out just how powerful a stream of water can be. And, while the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, Loon Mountain and Wildcat Mountain Gondolas are manmade, they will bring you to the tops of some of the most impressive peaks in the entire northeast from which you can marvel at the rest of the peaks in the White Mountains, including Mount Washington.
But, if you want the thrill of being on top of the highest mountain in the northeast, then the Mt. Washington Cog Railway and The Mount Washington Auto Road are the place to get your head into the clouds and experience the thrill of perhaps a small climb on one of the trails from the top.
Kids are not forgotten. At Six Gun City they can have gunfights and enjoy rides, Story Land brings childhood nursery rhymes to life and Clark’s Trading Post provides a host of activities in addition to regularly scheduled shows featuring trained black bears that have been rescued and trained right there. Elsewhere in the north country train rides include the Conway Scenic Railroad and Hobo Railroad.
Other attractions included in the pass are Santa's Village, Whale's Tale Water Park, Fields of Attitash, mountain-top rides on the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, Loon Mountain and Wildcat Mountain Gondolas.
Get the passes at the White Mountains Attractions Visitors Center in Lincoln, or order them from White Mountains Attractions, PO Box 10, VPB, North Woodstock, NH 03262; Tel: (800) 346-3687, www.visitwhitemountains.com.
